Food allergies can also trigger asthma symptoms. The more common food allergies are egg, milk, peanuts, wheat, soy and shellfish. Asthma prevention is possible when are aware of foods that worsen the symptoms. Know the ingredients before going to eat outside to avoid the problem.

Catastrophic sudden severe (brittle) asthma is an unusual variation of asthma in which patients are in danger of sudden death despite their asthma being well controlled between attacks. Severe life threatening attacks can occur within hours or even minutes.

Severe asthma patients should have emergency medications at home, in car, and at work. You should have oxygen and resuscitation kit at home and at work. Nebulized β2 agonists, prednisolone and medic alert bracelet at home and at work should be present.

If you are not concentrating on asthma prevention, you can have respiratory fatigue, pneumothorax, and even death.

There is no cure for asthma, though symptoms decrease over a period of time. With proper asthma prevention, many people can lead normal life. Although, asthma improves in children as they reach teenage, it returns frequently in later ages.
