Apparently it is possible, and there is a recently identified condition that is responsible for this – it is called the Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome, or POIS which has been described in a recent study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
This condition is characterized by the experiencing of certain symptoms after each ejaculation – fever, headache, weakness, tiredness, disordered speech, mood changes, memory lapses, nightmares, and swelling of the throat and lips.
It was thought that there was an underlying psychological cause to the problem; a deep seated fear to ejaculate.
When doctors in the United Kingdom investigated the matter, they found that the problem appeared to be caused by an immune system reaction and could be very significantly improved by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs just before and for two days after ejaculating.
According to Dutch researchers, it could be that a man is allergic to his own semen, and they identified 33 men who may have POIS.
The process of “hyposensitizationâ€, which is used to treat food allergies, was used in this case, to treat the condition and it became possible for this allergy sufferer to ejaculate without falling ill straight afterwards.
Earlier women’s allergic reactions to semen had been identified, but a man’s allergic reaction to his own semen is a relatively unknown matter.
